A familiar face from Philippine cinema now carries a military credential. Lorna Tolentino has been welcomed into the Philippine Navy Reserve Command after completing the Basic Citizen Military Course (BCMC).
The actress documented the moment for her followers, posting scenes from the graduation rites held in Taguig on her Facebook account Friday, Aug. 7. Cheering her on at the ceremony was her son, Rap Fernandez, who came to witness the accomplishment firsthand.
She tied the achievement to a personal source of motivation: her late husband, actor Rudy Fernandez, who once served as a Navy reservist himself. Tolentino pointed to his example as the reason she pursued the program.
Her caption framed the effort as a matter of resolve. “Discipline is choosing to finish, even when it’s hard. Just finished,” she wrote. “Lorna Tolentino Fernandez, at your service. Philippine Navy Reserve Command.”
She capped the message with a rallying line: “Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!”
Tolentino is far from alone among entertainers who have taken the same path into the reserve force. The roster of celebrities who have signed on includes Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, Nadia Montenegro, Vickie Rushton and Karina Bautista.
