Vatican approves inquiry into possible sainthood of young Ilocana Niña Ruiz-Abad

The Vatican has granted permission for an inquiry to commence regarding the potential canonization of 13-year-old Niña Ruiz-Abad from Ilocos Norte. As reported by Monday 24 Oras, the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints has authorized the Diocese of Laoag to investigate Abad’s life, focusing on her reputation and sanctity.

According to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Abad, who passed away due to cardiac disease at the age of 13, displayed a profound devotion to the Eucharist during her lifetime. Her unwavering faith served as an inspiration to the entire province.

The beatification and canonization process for Abad is set to commence in April at the Saint William’s Cathedral in Laoag. Abad, born on October 31, 1979, was widely recognized as “the girl who always wore a rosary.” She spent her formative years in Quezon City and later moved to Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, where she continued her education. Abad’s dedication to her faith and her exemplary life have led to her being regarded as a Servant of God in the Roman Catholic Church.
