All nurseries, kindergartens, and public and private schools across the UAE will return to full campus-based learning on Monday, April 20, the Ministry of Education confirmed Wednesday.
The ministry said facilities have completed readiness and preparation plans ahead of the transition back, covering infrastructure checks, staff training, and updated security and safety protocols designed to ensure a secure environment for students and their families.
Private schools retain the option to operate under a hybrid rotational setup where circumstances require, subject to oversight by local education authorities and alignment with approved guidelines. Each institution’s readiness will factor into how the model is applied.
One condition attached to any hybrid arrangement: schools may not assign a single teacher to handle in-person and remote instruction at the same time. The ministry said the restriction exists to “preserve education quality and balancing professional workloads for teaching staff.”
Regardless of the mode in place, all institutions are expected to remain capable of shifting to alternative learning arrangements if conditions demand it, the ministry noted.
The announcement puts to rest speculation that had been circulating over how long distance learning would remain in effect, and gives parents and school administrators several days to organize ahead of the Monday return.
