A resident of Sharjah was killed during a violent brawl in an industrial area of the emirate on Wednesday, according to local authorities. Police investigations revealed that the conflict erupted over a Dh600 debt.
Sharjah Police reported that seven Asian expatriates were arrested for assaulting three siblings with sticks and knives. The attack resulted in one fatality and left the other two injured, Khaleej Times reported. The group of attackers was allegedly demanding repayment of the debt from the brothers.
The altercation began as a verbal dispute but quickly escalated into a deadly confrontation. Those injured were immediately taken to the hospital, while the attackers initially fled the scene.
However, Sharjah Police swiftly responded to the incident, identifying and apprehending the suspects within two hours. The seven individuals later confessed to the assault, admitting that their actions were driven by a financial disagreement.
Authorities have reminded residents to resolve disputes through legal means and to report unresolved issues to the police to avoid such tragic outcomes.
