UAE makes it easier to invite your loved ones—here’s how to get the Friend or Relative Visa

Did you know that UAE citizens and residents can now invite family and friends to visit more easily through the Friend or Relative Visa service?

Launched by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), this initiative offers flexible visa options—allowing visits of 30, 60, or 90 days, with either single or multiple entries. Once issued, the visa remains valid for entry for up to 60 days, and extensions can be requested during the stay.

Applicants can conveniently apply through the ICP’s website or smart app by logging in with their UAE Pass, selecting the visa type and duration, uploading the required documents, and verifying their information before submitting.

To qualify, visitors must:

Hold a passport valid for over six months

Present a return ticket

Have valid health insurance

Be a first- or second-degree friend or relative of a UAE citizen or resident

If sponsored by a foreign resident, that person must hold a first- or second-level job, as defined by UAE classification

According to Maj. Gen. Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, this visa is part of the country’s efforts to support family reunification and social well-being. “This service reflects our commitment to strengthening family and community ties,” he said, while also reminding applicants to strictly follow the visa’s validity to avoid penalties such as fines for overstaying.
