The director of a hospital has been replaced due to the facility’s poor performance. This action was prompted by the latest ratings announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which identified the best and worst federal government entities.
The Emirates Health Services, which oversees the management of Kalba Hospital, has received a directive for its director-general to personally oversee improvements at the hospital over the next month. This decision follows the hospital’s placement at the bottom of the list in the annual star rating system that evaluates government service channels.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure service centre in Ras Al Khaimah also faced criticism for its poor performance. Entities rated as the worst have been given a 60-day ultimatum to enhance their services, after which a second evaluation will determine if further managerial changes are necessary.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of exceptional government services for UAE residents, stressing the fundamental duty of government officials to interact positively with the public. He made these remarks on the microblogging platform X, underscoring his administration’s commitment to service quality.
The star rating system, initiated in 2011 and updated in 2019, assesses 124 government service channels, including service centres, websites, apps, and contact centres from 25 federal ministries and entities. This comprehensive system awards ratings from 2 to 7 stars based on customer satisfaction surveys and feedback from mystery shoppers.
In contrast to the underperforming entities, six centres received the highest accolade of a 6-star rating. Notable among these top performers are the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security and the Ministry of Interior.
