UAE Food Bank feeds 5,000 workers in Dubai’s biggest single-day meal drive yet

A coordinated distribution campaign reaching 5,000 workers across Dubai marked a new high for the UAE Food Bank’s annual outreach efforts, with the initiative drawing on a three-way partnership between the federal food security body, retail conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim, and Majra, the federal entity tasked with strengthening private sector engagement in CSR and sustainability.

The figure represents a two-thirds jump from the 3,000 beneficiaries served in the previous cycle, a growth that organizers attributed to deeper coordination across government, corporate, and civil society channels.

Ahmed Galal Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Holding, pointed to the scale achieved through combined effort: “This year’s outreach reflects what is possible when government entities, the private sector and community organisations work together with a shared purpose. Partnering with the UAE Food Bank and Majra to support the distribution of 5,000 meals demonstrates the strength of coordinated action. By combining our capabilities, we were able to reach more people than ever before and contribute to the UAE’s ongoing efforts to enhance food security, social cohesion and responsible resource use.”

Majra Chairman and Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri framed the drive within the UAE’s broader humanitarian architecture, saying the country has built “a pioneering model in charitable and humanitarian work — one built on sustainability, community partnership, and maximising impact.” He described the three-party collaboration as demonstrating how resources can be “utilised responsibly to support food security and strengthen the values of solidarity and social cohesion.”

For the UAE Food Bank, the campaign feeds directly into its core mandate of redirecting surplus food toward structured community impact. Head of the Executive Team Manal Obaid bin Yaroof said the exercise validated the organization’s operational model: “The distribution of meals to 5,000 workers in a coordinated initiative of this scale demonstrates how surplus food redistribution, cross-sector collaboration, and responsible resource management can directly advance national food security objectives while strengthening social cohesion.”

Bin Yaroof added that the Food Bank intends to sustain the momentum through continued engagement with partners aligned on ESG principles and long-term national development goals.
