Abu Dhabi-based Burjeel Holdings has contributed medical supplies worth Dh2 million to assist injured children from Gaza receiving urgent treatment in Egypt. The donation is part of the healthcare group’s ongoing initiative to improve medical services at the Rafah border, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. Alongside the medical aid, Burjeel Holdings has launched a recreational project at Al-Arish Hospital in Egypt aimed at bringing joy to the young patients’ recovery process.
The significance of aid in Gaza has been underscored by UNICEF, highlighting the critical situation where children’s lives are at stake due to the escalating mortality rates. The medical supplies, including trauma and emergency equipment, cardiac and respiratory support, diagnostics, and surgical tools, were delivered to Al-Arish International Airport by a special aircraft from Abu Dhabi. Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, along with other officials, welcomed the arrival of the shipment.
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, the founder and chairman of Burjeel Holdings, emphasized the importance of providing holistic care to the children and their families affected by the crisis. He assured that the company’s commitment to bolstering the healthcare infrastructure would continue, aiming to enhance the capability of medical professionals in the region.
In addition to the medical assistance, Burjeel’s recreational project within Al-Arish Hospital offers a sanctuary for the children from Gaza to recuperate. Featuring a video game zone and a vibrant play area, the initiative focuses on improving the mental health and well-being of the children, aiming to restore a sense of normalcy amidst their recovery. Dr. Ghaffar praised the effort during his visit to the facility, recognizing the importance of private sector involvement in humanitarian missions.
