Two Filipino fitness professionals are positioning themselves ahead of the upcoming HYROX UAE season, offering performance-focused coaching grounded in competitive athletic backgrounds rather than general fitness instruction.
Xzi Vargaz, a former national-level Taekwondo representative for the Philippines, and Pocholo Marquez, who competed in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the Armed Forces national team, both hold international HYROX performance coaching certifications. The two have since built their coaching practice in the UAE, where HYROX — a standardized race format combining running and functional fitness stations — has been drawing a growing competitive field.

Both coaches previously worked at Gold’s Gym Philippines before moving to the UAE, where they developed their early training methodology across a broad client base ranging from recreational gym-goers to competitive athletes.
Their training approach centers on aerobic development and strength endurance programming — areas they say are often underemphasized in high-intensity fitness culture. Running forms a core component of how they train both themselves and their athletes, reflecting HYROX’s demand for sustained output across multiple race stations.

The HYROX competitive season in the UAE is approaching, with both coaches preparing their athletes for the event.
