Two Filipino workers in Taiwan recognized for mentorship, discipline, and workplace excellence

Two Filipino workers in Taiwan were recognized for outstanding workplace performance at the 2026 New Taipei Annual Awarding Ceremony, held April 30 at New Taipei City Hall as part of the city’s Labor Day celebrations.

Ronnel Tomas De Lumban, employed at Din Tai Fung, and Beverly Genobiagon Lagarto of Garmin Corporation each received their awards directly from New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih.

Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Taipei Labor Attaché Atty. Alejandro Padaen said both workers demonstrated diligence, responsibility, and excellence in their respective roles.

De Lumban was recognized for his conduct in the workplace, including his collaborative approach with colleagues and his role as a mentor to newly hired employees. Outside his primary duties, he also serves as a dormitory supervisor, where he helps maintain order and discipline among residents.

Lagarto’s recognition centered on her contributions to assembly, testing, and packaging operations at Garmin, as well as her work as an interpreter bridging communication between Taiwanese supervisors and Filipino workers on the floor.

New Taipei City officials said the annual recognition program is intended to encourage workers to continuously develop their skills for both professional and personal growth.
