Two brothers land a front-row seat in a UAE police patrol after their wish gets answered

Two young brothers in Al Ain got more than they bargained for when Abu Dhabi Police turned their wish into reality, arranging for them to join a special children’s patrol as part of a broader push to build closer ties between the force and the communities it serves.

Officers from the Traffic Awareness and Education Branch brought the Children’s Patrol vehicle directly to the boys’ home, giving the siblings a hands-on experience that went beyond a standard visit. The brothers rode in the patrol vehicle and received straightforward, age-appropriate explanations about what police officers do and why road rules exist.

Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Baloushi, Director of the Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate, framed the visit within a wider institutional philosophy. “Safety extends beyond the protection of lives and property to include humanitarian and social engagement, reinforcing social cohesion and community partnership,” he said, describing the outing as consistent with Abu Dhabi Police’s ongoing community wellbeing efforts.

The response from the family was warm. Commemorative gifts were presented to the two brothers and their relatives, with additional items distributed to other children who were present at the time.

Awareness officers used the occasion to speak with families in the area about road safety, focusing on the risks of children playing on or near roads and the importance of observing traffic regulations.

The Children’s Patrol programme, which the visit helped introduce to those present, is designed specifically to build traffic awareness among young people through direct engagement rather than classroom instruction.
