A truck blocking the road set off the chain of events that killed an 18-year-old Emirati student on his way to a final exam in Ras Al Khaimah, his father has said.
Salem Ali Rashid Al Mazrouei died last Thursday morning in the Al Ghail area, roughly 45 kilometers south of Ras Al Khaimah City. He was traveling to school to sit his end-of-year examinations for the 2025-2026 academic year when the crash occurred.
According to his father, Ali Rashid Al Mazrouei, the vehicle carrying the two students came upon a truck directly ahead of them. The friend behind the wheel attempted to steer clear but was unable to avoid the collision. That friend, also a classmate of Salem, was hurt in the crash and remains under hospital care.
Speaking to Al Khaleej, the father said his son was on his way to learn and complete the June 25 exam, only months from finishing school and moving on to the university and field of study he had set his sights on. The teenager had been looking forward to a graduation ceremony scheduled for the coming days.
The father extended his own thanks and that of his family to everyone who stood by them, saying condolences came from people across Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates. He also credited the relevant authorities with easing the family’s burden by handling the legal and official matters tied to the accident and the death.
