Tickets are now on sale for the highly anticipated 2024 USA Basketball Showcase Abu Dhabi, scheduled to take place from July 15th to 17th at the Etihad Arena. The event will feature the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s National Team facing off against the national teams of Australia and Serbia in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This marks the first international stop of the six-game USA Basketball Showcase, crucial preparation for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Building on the success of last year’s event, USA Basketball returns for the second consecutive summer to host the showcase in the UAE capital. The action-packed lineup will see the USA team competing against Australia on July 15th and Serbia on July 17th, with Australia and Serbia also going head-to-head on July 16th. All games are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time/noon ET and will be broadcast live on FS1.
Jim Tooley, CEO of USA Basketball, expressed enthusiasm for the event, highlighting the competitive opportunities the matchups against Australia and Serbia present. Tooley emphasized the significance of partnering with The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to prepare for the Olympic Games in such a vibrant sporting atmosphere.
Abu Dhabi, the largest emirate of the UAE, has solidified its position as a global hub for sporting events, regularly hosting prestigious tournaments and attracting a worldwide audience. This event follows a string of successful sporting spectacles hosted by Abu Dhabi, including the 2023 USA Basketball Showcase and NBA preseason games.
In addition to the Abu Dhabi showcase, USA Basketball’s international training window includes stops in London, with games against South Sudan and reigning World Cup champion Germany at the O2 Arena. The USA women will also face Germany in London on July 23rd as part of the showcase.
Prior to the Abu Dhabi event, USA Basketball will host the Canadian National Team on July 10th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, followed by a training camp in the city. The American men secured their spot in the 2024 Olympics by finishing as one of the top two nations from the FIBA Americas zone at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, aiming for their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
Overall, USA Basketball will be represented by four teams at the 2024 Olympic Games, including 5-on-5 men and women and 3×3 men and women. As the reigning Olympic champions in several categories, the USA teams are poised for an exciting competition this summer.
