A 15-year-old boy was among two people fatally shot by a worker at a poultry farm in Lucena, Quezon, after the group was reportedly mistaken for intruders while out collecting spiders to sell.
The teenager had wandered onto the farm alongside friends who gathered and sold spiders, his father told GMA News 24 Oras in a report aired Tuesday.
By the account of one of the survivors, the group was passing through the area when the farm worker ordered them away. The worker then gave chase and opened fire with a shotgun, according to the same companion. Two of them were struck and died, while the others escaped unharmed.
Authorities have taken the farm worker into custody. As of the report, he had not issued any statement regarding the incident.
