Sara Duterte flags fake social media groups promising cash giveaways in her name

Fabricated Facebook pages portraying Vice President Sara Duterte and her family as the source of massive cash prizes have prompted a public warning from the official herself.

Duterte flagged the deception in a Facebook post, calling out fraudulent groups — including one called “Duterte Legacy” — that use her image and name to bait users into scams.

Among the material she shared were screenshots of a Facebook group with thousands of members, featuring a doctored photo of Duterte appearing to hold a phone displaying an e-wallet screen, paired with a prompt urging users to type “YES” in the comments to claim prizes of up to P550 million.

The Vice President was unambiguous about the Office of the Vice President’s position on such claims.

“Ang Tanggapan ng Pangalawang Pangulo, at maging ako man, ay hindi nagbibigay ng mga papremyo sa mobile e-wallet o anumang platform,” she said.

She also cautioned the public against sharing personal information that could be exploited by those running such schemes.
