Passengers using one of Dubai’s busiest Metro stops will need to adjust their routines for the rest of the year, as expansion work forces the shutdown of a key access road.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that the bus and taxi service road serving Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station has been closed temporarily. Only construction vehicles will be permitted to use the stretch, which runs along Sheikh Zayed Road near the station, until the works wrap up at the close of 2026.
Sitting steps away from Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, the station ranks among the highest-traffic stops on the Red Line and functions as a primary entry point for tourists and commuters alike. That volume is precisely why the authority has moved to enlarge the facility.
RTA said it built a fresh bus layby next to the current one so that services can keep operating without interruption while crews carry out the expansion. Signage has gone up throughout the area to guide both drivers and passengers, with markers pointing toward Jabal Ali and Bur Dubai along Sheikh Zayed Road.
Drivers passing through are being asked to watch the posted directions, observe the speed limits set for the zone, and factor additional time into their trips.
“Please adhere to the directional signs and specified speeds, and set off early to ensure you reach your destinations on time,” the authority said, describing road-user safety as a continuing priority for the length of the project.
An exact reopening date has not been released, with RTA committing only to the end-of-2026 window and indicating that further updates will follow as construction advances.
