A 65-year-old retired overseas Filipino worker was killed by a gunman inside his residence in Barangay Davila, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte late Sunday night, police said.
According to ABS-CBN News, the victim was in the kitchen preparing dinner when he was shot at around 10 p.m. Authorities have yet to identify the suspect.
Recovery of six spent .45-caliber shells, two live rounds, and a metal jacket fragment at the crime scene is guiding the ongoing investigation, though police say they have little else to work with. The home’s remote location has left investigators without witnesses or CCTV footage that could help establish who carried out the attack.
Emergency responders brought the victim to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The Ilocos Norte police said the investigation remains open.
