Qatar halts visa-on-arrival access for Pakistani travellers

The Pakistani Embassy in Doha has put Pakistani nationals on notice that they can no longer count on arriving in Qatar without a pre-arranged visa, following an advisory issued Tuesday that cited unspecified prevailing circumstances for the change.

Travellers who show up at Qatari immigration without the required documentation now risk being turned away or facing delays at the border, the embassy warned.

“Pakistani nationals intending to travel to Qatar are advised that visa-on-arrival facility is currently not available due to prevailing situation,” the embassy said. “All Pakistani travellers to Qatar are advised to obtain appropriate visas prior to travel to avoid inconvenience.”

Securing a visa before departure is now mandatory, according to the advisory, which stopped short of elaborating on what conditions prompted the suspension. The phrase “prevailing situation” was the only explanation offered.

The embassy urged Pakistani nationals to monitor official channels and reach out to relevant Qatari authorities or visa processing centres before finalising any travel plans to the country.

While reaffirming its readiness to assist Pakistani travellers, the embassy made clear that the responsibility for verifying visa requirements ahead of travel falls on the individual.
