A video of a 44-year-old father meticulously arranging his daughter’s 59 medals in a handcrafted frame has moved netizens. Ruben Lacatan fulfilled a promise he made to his daughter, Jade Kristelle Lacatan, by crafting the frame himself as a special way to honor her achievements.
Jade, an academic achiever from elementary through senior high school, said the medals are a gift to her parents in appreciation for their sacrifices. “Sobrang swerte ko kasi yung tatay ko…sa kanya din po kasi ako lumaki…ramdam na ramdam ko po talaga yung pagmamahal nya and mahal na mahal ko po siya,” Jade shared, expressing her deep gratitude and love for her father.
For Ruben, showcasing his daughter’s accomplishments is a source of pride and joy as a parent. Despite not having the opportunity to attend college himself, Ruben is determined to support his children’s education. He encourages other fathers to remain supportive, saying, “Sa mga tatay ‘ho na nasuporta sa mga anak, huwag po silang magsawa na sumuporta sa pag-aaral ng anak at para mapaganda ang buhay nila pag natapos.”
The video, which has gained over 336,900 views and 26,400 likes, highlights Ruben’s 23-year carpentry skills, a profession he has dedicated himself to alongside his wife, now a housewife after returning home in 2014.
