Private sector in UAE urged to implement flexible work arrangements

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has called upon the private sector in the UAE to facilitate flexible work patterns for employees due to the adverse effects of unpredictable weather conditions across the nation.

Highlighting the challenges posed by unstable weather, MoHRE emphasized the necessity of precautionary measures, particularly in outdoor work environments where operations cannot easily be suspended. The authority urged employers to prioritize the health and safety of their workforce during commutes to and from job sites, stressing compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Earlier directives from MoHRE had already urged employers to ensure the well-being of outdoor workers during their travel to work and back, and to adhere to occupational health and safety regulations.

In a separate move, the UAE government announced remote working arrangements for all public sector employees on Thursday, April 17, and Friday, April 18, with exceptions for roles requiring physical presence in the workplace.
