Pilot suspended following hard landing of Air India flight in Dubai

An Air India pilot has been removed from active duty following a hard landing at Dubai International Airport. The incident, involving a flight from Kochi to Dubai, occurred on December 20.

The Times of India reported that despite the rough landing, the aircraft, a relatively new A320, managed to come to a safe stop. There were no immediate reports of damage to the plane’s landing gear, which is notable considering the aircraft’s recent addition to the fleet.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is underway in accordance with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s regulations. The pilot in question will remain off-duty until the investigation is concluded.

Post-incident, the aircraft was grounded in Dubai for a week to undergo thorough inspections. It has since been cleared to return to service in India. However, flight tracking websites indicate that the plane has not been flown since the incident.
