PH workers may soon get 10 paid leave days under proposed law

A Parañaque City congressman has introduced legislation that would require private-sector companies to grant employees twice the current minimum paid leave, framing the move as a workforce wellness measure.

House Bill No. 6602, filed by 2nd District Representative Brian Yamsuan, proposes raising the mandatory service incentive leave from five days to 10 days annually. The expanded benefit would apply to workers who have completed at least one year with their employer.

Yamsuan said the measure is intended to help combat stress and burnout in the workplace, with the expectation that better-rested employees would deliver higher productivity.

The bill targets existing labor law provisions governing leave entitlements for qualified private-sector workers.

As of this writing, the Department of Labor and Employment has not commented on the proposal.
