PAL resumes Riyadh route with Bangkok refueling stop starting April 10

Flights between Manila and Riyadh are set to return after weeks of suspension, with Philippine Airlines announcing service will restart on April 10, 2026 — though not quite under normal conditions.

The flag carrier said select flights on the route will make a brief technical stop in Bangkok for refueling before continuing to the Saudi capital. Passengers will not be required to disembark during the stopover.

PAL said the alternate routing is a precautionary measure to maintain safety standards as operations in the region resume. The airline did not specify how long the Bangkok stop arrangement would remain in place, saying only that normal routing and full capacity would be restored “as conditions allow.”

Dubai and Doha remain offline. PAL has extended suspensions on both routes through May 31, citing persistent airspace risks tied to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East — a region that accounts for roughly 11 percent of the carrier’s capacity and about 8 percent of its revenues.

The Riyadh suspension had initially been set to lift on April 8 before being pushed to April 9, then April 10 in the latest advisory, reflecting how quickly the situation on the ground has been shifting since PAL first pulled back from the Gulf in late February.

Passengers holding Riyadh bookings are advised to confirm their reservation status before heading to the airport through the PAL website’s manage-booking page or via the airline’s 24/7 customer service channels, including phone lines in Manila, a US and Canada toll-free number, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
