A week-long cultural program is opening the gates of two of Manila’s most storied heritage sites to Overseas Filipino Workers at no charge, with the initiative running from May 25 to 31.
The “Pasyal Pamilya: Balik Bayani sa Walled City” program — a joint undertaking of the Department of Tourism, the Intramuros Administration, and the Department of Migrant Workers — grants free admission to Fort Santiago and Centro de Turismo Intramuros for OFWs and Balik-Manggagawa during the designated period.
Complimentary guided tours are also part of the offer. At Fort Santiago, tours are scheduled daily at 4:30 p.m. throughout the week. Centro de Turismo Intramuros joins the guided tour program from May 27 to 31, with sessions beginning at 4 p.m.
To qualify, workers must present either a valid Overseas Employment Certificate or an active OWWA membership card upon arrival. The DOT advises registering onsite at least an hour before the scheduled tour. Each OFW participant may bring up to four companions.
Fort Santiago receives visitors Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended morning access on weekends starting at 6 a.m. Centro de Turismo Intramuros operates Tuesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
