OFW mom surprises son at Grade 10 completion ceremony after rushing from hospital visit

A 16-year-old boy’s graduation moment became unexpectedly emotional when his mother, an overseas Filipino worker based in Hong Kong, appeared at his school in Malitbog, Bukidnon — a surprise he never saw coming.

According to a GMA News report, Omarion Drake had no idea his mother, Ena, would be present at his Grade 10 completion ceremony. Footage captured by YouScooper Nathaniel shows the teenager visibly overwhelmed when she rushed onto the stage to join him and his father, Rechie.

The reunion almost didn’t happen. Before making it to the awarding rites, Ena had first dealt with an urgent family matter — accompanying her younger child, who had just been discharged from the hospital, back from the city.

Ena had coordinated with her eldest son’s class adviser beforehand, ensuring the school was aware she would be cutting it close. When Omarion Drake’s name was finally called, she made her move.

The video has since circulated widely online, drawing attention to the lengths Ena went to be present for her panganay on one of his milestone days.
