The head of the OFW Hospital underscored the facility’s continuing expansion and its commitment to free healthcare during a three-day medical outreach that opened on February 18, 2026.
Dr. Servando Sergio DC Simangan, chief of the OFWH Medical Center, spoke about the hospital’s development while joining a medical mission organized in partnership with NANAY Partylist, the Provincial Government of Pampanga, and several supporting groups. He highlighted the steady upgrade of the hospital’s classification and the widening range of services now available to overseas Filipino workers and their families.
“We have progressed steadily, from no level to Level 1 to Level 2. Now we are going to offer pre-employment medical exam, and we keep on adding services. If we don’t have [the services], we try to get them from someone else, but always without cost or cashout from the patients, or OFWs and their dependents…But definitely, we will still deliver whatever services we have, we will still deliver them for free. Walang charge.”
According to Simangan, the institution has gradually expanded its capacity, moving through different service levels while preparing to roll out pre-employment medical examinations. He said the hospital continues to introduce additional medical offerings and, when certain procedures are unavailable in-house, coordinates with other providers to ensure patients are not required to pay out of pocket.
The outreach program in Pampanga delivered a range of services, including minor surgical operations and selected elective major procedures at no cost. Beneficiaries were also provided general consultations, essential laboratory testing, optical services, and necessary medications.
The activity forms part of the broader push of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to direct government agencies to collaborate with partner organizations in bringing accessible and quality medical care to overseas Filipino workers and their dependents.
