No more waiting in the heat: Dubai airport opens lounge for Uber and Careem riders

Ride-hailing passengers landing at Dubai International Airport now have a cool place to wait for their cars, following the launch of a purpose-built, air-conditioned lounge at Terminal 3’s main pickup zone for Uber and Careem.

Built through a partnership between Uber and Dubai Airports, the facility sits at the primary Uber and Careem Rides pickup point, giving arriving travelers a climate-controlled spot to settle into before their driver arrives. Officials cast it as part of a wider push to ease curbside congestion and spare passengers the peak summer heat.

The space is fitted with air conditioning and high-efficiency air purifiers, seating benches with room for bulky luggage, high chairs and raised tables for those who need to work, and charging points offering USB-C, USB-A, and standard sockets. A separate queue for UberX and Careem Comfort riders uses PIN dispatch to speed up matching passengers with cars.

Tala Nsouli, General Manager at Uber UAE, said, “At Uber, our goal is to eliminate travel friction and make every step of the journey as effortless as possible.”

Saeed AlNazari, Secretary General of the Dubai Civility Committee, which backed the project, pointed to the airport as where visitors form their first impressions of the city. “Dubai International (DXB) is the first point of contact for millions of visitors each year, and it is here that their first impression of the city’s high-quality services begins.”

Organizers say the Terminal 3 lounge is only the first stage of a broader effort to upgrade airport ground transport, with more rider-focused features due in the coming weeks.
