The much-anticipated iPhone 16 Pro Max has hit Dubai’s shelves and is already making waves, not just for its advanced features but for its steep resale prices online. As of today, resellers are listing the top-tier 1TB version for as much as AED 8,000 on platforms like Dubizzle, marking a notable AED 2,000 markup from the original retail price of AED 6,799.
Yesterday’s launch saw Apple enthusiasts lining up outside malls as early as 5 a.m., eager to get their hands on the new device. With walk-in purchases not allowed, only those who reserved their iPhones online were permitted inside the stores. Buyers were limited to two devices per Apple ID, intensifying demand in the resale market. The high resale prices reflect the exclusive nature of this year’s release, especially in the UAE, one of the first countries to offer the new models.
Among the fans, some even flew in from abroad to secure their new iPhones. One Apple fan from Egypt traveled to Dubai Mall specifically to purchase the iPhone 16 Pro Max, according to a report by The National. The region’s enthusiasm for Apple’s latest technology is evident as people from neighboring countries gathered in Dubai for the launch.
The new iPhones, alongside the latest Apple Watches and AirPods, were launched to great fanfare, with all models now available across the UAE at the following retail prices:
iPhone 16: Starting at AED 3,399 for 128GB, up to AED 4,649 for 512GB.
iPhone 16 Plus: Starting at AED 3,799 for 128GB, up to AED 5,049 for 512GB.
iPhone 16 Pro: Starting at AED 4,299 for 128GB, up to AED 6,399 for 1TB.
iPhone 16 Pro Max: Starting at AED 5,099 for 256GB, up to AED 6,799 for 1TB.
The reselling trend is expected to continue as demand outpaces supply, especially with the UAE being an early release market for the new iPhone.
