NAIA porter returns $10,000 or over P565,000 and bag of belongings, earns recognition

Victor Perez, a porter at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) for over three decades, demonstrated exceptional honesty when he discovered a bundle of US dollar bills totaling $10,000, along with personal belongings. Perez, 52, found the money while retrieving pushcarts at Naia Terminal 1 on April 13. He promptly handed it over to the Lost and Found office, leading to its rightful return to a Korean passenger who had lost it. The incident earned Perez recognition from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

In a separate event, Albert Bautista, a security guard at Naia, also showcased integrity by turning in a lost bag containing valuable items like a laptop, smartphone, and gold necklace. The bag was returned to its owner through the Terminal 3 Lost and Found office.

MIAA General Manager Eric Ines commended Perez and Bautista, stating, “Hats off to Messrs. Victor Perez and Albert Bautista for their honesty. Both should be emulated by everyone in NAIA. Let the culture of honesty thrive in the midst of endless temptations around us.” Both employees are scheduled to be honored with commendation awards during MIAA’s upcoming flag ceremony in May.
