A Filipino restaurant that started as a single stall in a Sharjah fish market has reached its third location in the UAE, opening a new branch inside Metro Manila Supermarket in Ajman on August 1, 2026.
NaDerang Restaurant, built around home-style Kapampangan cooking, has grown steadily since 2020, when owner Liberty Samonte Galang stumbled into the food business almost by accident. She had stepped in to cover a shift for her sister, who was on maternity leave from a honey kiosk at the Sharjah Fish Market, and noticed empty retail spaces that the market wanted filled with Filipino vendors.
Her mother, Brenda, a Kapampangan cook, turned that opening into a small operation selling porridge, veggie okoy, cassava, puto, and kutchinta. The stall drew a following fast. “She cooked porridge, veggie okoy, cassava, puto, kutchinta. Everything was sold out by 11am!” Liberty recalled.
From there, the family moved beyond the market, opening a full-service restaurant along King Faisal Road next to Lulu Hypermarket in Sharjah, followed by a second location at Sahara Centre. The Ajman outlet now extends the brand into a fourth year of expansion and a new emirate with a sizable Filipino population.
The restaurant has also built a reputation for community work. Earlier in 2026, it joined the Philippine Business Council – Dubai and Northern Emirates in the Bayanihan Meal Program, handing out free meals to residents who needed them.
