MWO Qatar gives $200 cash assistance via in-person applications on Labor Day

Hundreds of overseas Filipino workers in Qatar received immediate financial support on May 1 as the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) extended special services to mark Labor Day, allowing applicants to process requests outside regular working schedules.

The one-day initiative enabled workers—many of whom are only available on Fridays—to submit applications in person, addressing long-standing access issues with online filing. The move followed instructions from Hans Leo J. Cacdac, who called for faster assistance to Filipinos whose income and employment have been affected by ongoing regional developments.

Qualified beneficiaries were given QAR 726 (approximately USD 200) each, with processing and release completed within 15 to 20 minutes per applicant.

A total of 537 OFWs received aid during the Labor Day activity, increasing the overall number of recipients assisted by MWO Qatar to 1,777.

The office confirmed that applications for financial assistance remain open, with both in-person and online submissions continuing in the days following the Labor Day rollout.
