Museum of Illusions closes its Al Seef location after nearly eight years

The Museum of Illusions has shut down its branch at Souk Al Seef in Dubai, ending a run of close to eight years at the site beside Dubai Creek. Gulf News confirmed the closure.

The attraction opened on September 12, 2018, and was part of an international franchise that started in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015. It featured interactive rooms that manipulated perception through angle, light, shadow and spatial distortion, including spaces engineered to make one visitor appear far larger than a companion standing nearby.

The museum announced the news on Instagram. “Our chapter here at Souk Al Seef has come to an end. Thank you to all our fantastic visitors who brought joy and laughter to the museum ❤️ We hope to see you again!” the post read.

Several visitors reacted with disappointment. “My children will be so sad 😢 they loved visiting here,” wrote Instagram user Carmen Breytenbach. Another commenter, Gabriel Franco Capellan, wrote: “Wait I never been here my parents always promised to bring me once they got money please stay a couple more weeks 💔.”

The venue attracted both residents and tourists during its time at Al Seef, offering visual and educational exhibits built around optical illusions and immersive displays aimed at visitors of all ages.
