More than 1.24 million Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Passes have already been generated through the eGovPH mobile application, reflecting the government’s continued push to digitize services for Filipino migrant workers and streamline their travel requirements.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the digital OFW Pass is intended for returning workers who are rejoining the same employer at the same jobsite and whose employment contracts remain active and verified. Eligible workers may generate the pass directly through the eGovPH app instead of going through traditional processing.
To obtain an OFW Pass, users must first download the eGovPH application from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. After creating an account, they need to complete the required identity verification before logging in using either their MPIN or registered biometric credentials.
Once verified, applicants can access the service by opening the National Government Agencies section within the app, selecting the Department of Migrant Workers, then navigating to the Balik-Manggagawa feature to generate their OFW Pass. The pass is issued immediately when the system confirms that the worker’s employment contract is valid and active.
Workers whose contracts have already expired are required to update their records, including details about a new employer or jobsite, before they can successfully generate a new OFW Pass.
The DMW also reminded users to ensure that the personal information reflected in their OFW Pass application is consistent with the details appearing on their government-issued identification cards and other official documents. Any discrepancies may result in an invalid contract record or an unverified status within the system.
