Mark Yulo’s social media rise sparks tension: ‘Ipagdasal na lang natin si Caloy saka si Goldie’

Mark Andrew Yulo, father of Olympic gymnast Carlos Yulo, has seen a surge in his social media presence, with his Facebook page now boasting 36,000 followers and growing. His newfound online activity includes frequent Facebook Live sessions, where he engages with his followers and openly discusses personal matters, sometimes humorously but not without controversy.

During one recent Facebook Live session on September 6, 2024, Mark made several comments that could strain his already tense relationship with his son. When a follower mentioned living near Carlos’ condominium in Taguig City, Mark jokingly responded, “Pakibatukan nga si Caloy diyan kapag nakita mo,” a remark he quickly followed with laughter but left a hint of his unresolved feelings toward his son.

Mark also responded to allegations from some followers that he is financially exploiting Carlos. “Paano ko ginatasan? Baka ako ang ginatasan ni Caloy. Kinuha niya yung semilya ko tapos ginanyan lang niya kami?” he quipped, though the tone of his voice suggested lingering resentment.

Despite the lighthearted tone in some of his statements, Mark’s comments about Carlos and his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, seemed to hint at deeper issues. “Ipagdasal na lang natin si Caloy saka si Goldie,” he said, adding cryptically, “Hindi pa nila alam yung mga mangyayaring karma. Joke lang.”

Mark remains hopeful that he and Carlos will reconcile, even as he continues his regular live streams. He shared plans to extend his online activity by hosting feeding programs for children in their area, thanking a generous donor for the resources to help the community. “May nagbigay sa amin na isang mabait na kaibigan para makapagpa-feeding kami… tanging dasal ko lang, magkaayos kami,” he said, expressing a desire for harmony between him and his son.

On the morning of September 7, 2024, despite a late night, Mark went live again, documenting a trip to the gym with his 16-year-old son, Karl Eldrew. The pair traveled on a motorcycle, with Eldrew driving while Mark interacted with his live viewers. However, the act raised concerns about road safety, as the distractions from the live session could pose risks to both the Yulos and other motorists.
