Thousands of San Juan City learners stand to benefit from a fresh wave of education support, after a turnover ceremony on Thursday placed both digital devices and classroom essentials into the hands of public school students across the city.
The city government, under Mayor Francis Zamora, is rolling out 13,000 tablets to students spanning Kindergarten through Grade 12 in all 13 of its public schools. The initiative is meant to widen the reach of technology-driven instruction for young learners.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara joined President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in distributing school bags and supplies during the event, held at Pinaglabanan Elementary School. “Through the support of President Bongbong Marcos and our partners, we are making sure that every child has a better chance to learn,” Angara said in a statement.
A separate stream of assistance came from the Office of the President through its Office of the Executive Secretary. Drawing on the Socio-Civic Projects Fund, the office supplied 1,000 bags packed with learning materials, directed specifically at Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils.
The President’s visit also brought him face to face with 105 recipients of the Bagong Pilipinas Presidential Merit Scholarship Program based in San Juan. That same fund, the SCPF, finances the scholarship, which aims to open higher education to qualified students nationwide.
