Airport authorities took a 46-year-old Filipino man into custody at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on September 3, 2026, after immigration screening flagged him for an outstanding murder warrant.
The Regional Trial Court of Lanao, Branch 26, had issued the Alias Warrant of Arrest against him for murder, a charge that carries no recommended bail. He was taken in as he arrived on an inbound flight from Jeddah.
His interception began with the Bureau of Immigration, which matched him against an Alert List Order carrying a record of the standing warrant. Officers from NAIA Police Station 1 then worked with immigration personnel to escort him to the station for questioning. A check through the PNP e-Warrant System established that the warrant was still valid, active, and had not yet been served.
The station brought in the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group’s Regional Field Unit for the National Capital Region-Southern Metro Manila District, and the two units carried out the warrant together. During the arrest, an Alternative Recording Device was in use, and the man was informed of his constitutional rights in Tagalog. He is now being held by the CIDG while his case is documented and processed further.
PBGEN Dionisio B. Bartolome, Jr., who directs the PNP Aviation Security Group, said his unit continues to work alongside airport officials and other law enforcement agencies to tighten security at the airport and to see that individuals wanted on warrants are flagged and turned over to the courts.
