Man dies after girlfriend allegedly sets him on fire over infidelity

A tragic incident unfolded in Taiwan as a 41-year-old man, identified as Li, succumbed to severe burns inflicted allegedly by his girlfriend, Xie, following suspicions of infidelity. However, recent revelations shed light on Li’s past involvement in a fatal hit-and-run accident just months prior.

According to reports from local media outlets, including Koreaboo, the sequence of events began when Li requested Xie, 34, to purchase gasoline for his motorcycle under the pretext of needing it for the vehicle. It’s alleged that Li intended to utilize this opportunity to rendezvous with his secret lover.

Upon Xie’s return with the gasoline, a confrontation erupted between the couple after she discovered Li’s extramarital affair. Sources claim that during the altercation, Li goaded Xie to douse him with the fuel she had purchased earlier.

Security cameras in the neighborhood reportedly captured footage of Xie complying with Li’s demands, pouring gasoline over him. Subsequently, Li entered their residence, followed closely by Xie, who then ignited the fuel with a lighter, resulting in fatal burns to Li.

Li endured five days of excruciating pain before succumbing to second and third-degree burns covering 68 percent of his body.

In a shocking twist, it was unveiled that Li had been implicated in another tragedy just a month before his death. He was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident on March 12, claiming the life of a 29-year-old motorcyclist named Chen. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing Li displaying no remorse for his victim, even casually smoking after the accident.

Despite initially cooperating with investigators, Li evaded authorities twice before finally being apprehended. Meanwhile, Xie has been incarcerated since April 10, facing charges of attempted murder and endangering public safety.
