Kuwait’s Ministry of Health confirmed on Tuesday the presence of the EG.5 COVID variant in the country. This new strain belongs to a subset of the coronavirus.
An official source from the ministry, quoted by the Kuwait news agency KUNA, reassured the public that this detection was anticipated and should not raise undue concerns.
The EG.5 variant has already been identified in approximately 50 other countries.
Current epidemiological data in Kuwait remains stable. Nonetheless, the ministry continues to emphasize the importance of following preventive measures.
They recommend wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and ensuring one is vaccinated.
