Job fair in Batangas offers 2,218 vacancies to returning OFWs

A total of 2,218 job openings were made available to 478 jobseekers during a combined employment and reintegration event held June 5, 2026, at the Batangas City Convention Center. The activity, organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office IV-A (CALABARZON), was staged as part of the country’s observance of National Migrant Workers’ Day.

Billed as the “Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa: National Reintegration Network (NRN) Fair” and Mega Job Fair, the gathering connected attendees with licensed recruitment agencies and local employers while also opening access to frontline government services through a Government Agency Caravan. Returning migrant workers were the central focus, with organizers framing the day around helping them settle back into the domestic economy.

Beyond job placement, the program carried an educational component. Partner agencies ran learning sessions covering the rights of migrant workers, mental health, and the proper channels for legal employment overseas. An open forum was also held, giving participants a venue to voice concerns and put questions directly to resource persons and government officials.

Entrepreneurship was promoted as another route to financial stability for OFWs who have come home. The event spotlighted Ms. Cecila Marquez, who won the Likhang Kababaihan Business Plan Contest, as an example of how building a business can lead to independence and lasting security. Complementing this was a mini trade fair under the Buy Lokal, Buy OFWs banner, which put a spotlight on goods and services created by migrant workers and their households.

DMW CALABARZON described the undertaking as part of a whole-of-government effort to back Filipino workers across the full arc of their migration, from their time employed abroad to their eventual return and reintegration.
