A social media comment attributed to former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz has circulated widely online after it appeared to target Senator Pia Cayetano over her participation in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The comment surfaced on a post by Bilyonaryo News Channel that featured Cayetano’s remarks during the trial. In the screenshot-circulated message, Diaz described the senator’s manner as irritating and overly dramatic, called her attention-seeking, and said she should be jailed. The original comment could no longer be located when outlets checked later, and screenshots remain the only record of it, leaving its authenticity unconfirmed.
Cayetano’s remarks that drew the reaction were made during her manifestation in the trial, where she referred to a National Bureau of Investigation probe involving her brother, Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano. That investigation concerns the Philippines’ hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, for which Alan served as chairperson of the organizing committee.
As of writing, Cayetano has not issued any public statement addressing the comment attributed to Diaz.
