Gaza death toll soars to 13,000 in ongoing conflict, including thousands of women and children

The Gaza Strip has experienced devastating losses since Israeli attacks began on October 7th. As of the latest reports, the death toll has alarmingly risen to 13,000, with a significant number of victims being children and women. According to the media office in Gaza, over 5,500 children and 3,500 women have lost their lives.

Injuries have surpassed 30,000, with children and women constituting more than 75% of these cases. The situation is exacerbated by the large number of missing persons, now exceeding 6,000, many of whom are suspected to be buried under the debris of collapsed buildings.

The conflict has also led to extensive damage to religious and residential structures. A total of 83 mosques have been completely destroyed, and 166 have suffered damage. Additionally, three churches were targeted in the attacks.

The housing crisis in the region has deepened, with more than 43,000 units completely demolished and 225,000 damaged. This equates to 60% of residential units in the Gaza Strip being affected.

The healthcare system is facing a dire situation, with 25 hospitals and 52 health centers no longer operational. The attacks have also impacted medical services, with 55 ambulances targeted and many more immobilized due to fuel shortages.

The local administration has held Israel and the international community accountable for what they term “ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip.” They have urged the international community to intervene to stop the war and these crimes, which they describe as a blot on humanity. There is a pressing need for medical aid, supplies, and fuel to support the struggling hospitals in the region.
