Motorists in Dubai will not have to pay for most public parking spaces on Friday, August 28, as the emirate marks the Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) Birthday holiday. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed the waiver on Wednesday, noting that it covers all public parking zones with the exception of multi-storey facilities. Standard charges are set to return on Saturday, August 29.
Commuters relying on rail should plan around adjusted operating hours. Both the Red and Green lines of the Dubai Metro will run from 5am on Friday through to 1am the next day, while the Dubai Tram begins service at 6am and continues until 1am.
Bus riders face a specific disruption worth noting: the E100 route will be suspended from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station between August 27 and 30. During that window, the RTA is directing travelers heading to Abu Dhabi to board the E101 from Ibn Battuta Bus Station instead. For all other bus timetables over the holiday, passengers can consult the S’hail app for the latest information.
Service availability at RTA facilities will also be limited. A number of Customer Happiness Centres and vehicle technical testing centres are scheduled to shut for the holiday, though the authority confirmed that a handful of locations will keep their doors open.
