Abu Dhabi residents can now receive free influenza vaccinations, as part of the UAE’s annual national influenza campaign, which launched on September 9 and will run until March 2025. The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), in partnership with key health authorities, aims to boost community immunity and protect vulnerable groups from seasonal flu.
The flu vaccine is available at 115 healthcare facilities and licensed pharmacies in Abu Dhabi, free of charge for UAE nationals and residents. Special provisions, including home deliveries, have been made for elderly individuals and those with disabilities to ensure everyone has access to the vaccine.
For residents in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, the vaccine is priced at just Dh50, while high-risk groups, including pregnant women, young children, and people with chronic conditions, can receive the vaccine for free. Healthcare professionals emphasize the importance of vaccination, particularly during the flu season, which typically begins in October in the UAE.
The campaign also highlights that this year’s vaccine strains closely match circulating viruses, increasing the vaccine’s effectiveness, according to experts.
