The Philippine Global School (TPGS) Abu Dhabi made a commanding statement at the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Dubai Regional Round 2026, with all 86 of its student-scholars qualifying for the Global Round after a dominant three-day competition held May 16–18 at Sunmarke School and the Arcadia Apollo Theatre in Dubai.

The Globalians — as TPGS students are known — returned with a combined haul of 279 gold medals, 216 silver medals, 17 team trophies, and one individual trophy, for a total of 495 medals across all categories. The school competed in the WSC’s four core events: the Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Team Debate, and Scholar’s Bowl.
The standout individual performer was Chris Jane Lubang of Grade 10-Zeal, who earned the distinction of Second Place Overall Scholar in the Seniors category — the lone individual trophy in TPGS’s medal tally.
Among the team highlights, Senior Team S98 claimed first place in Writing, while Senior Team S99 finished second in Bowl and Senior Team S97 placed second overall. Team 788 — composed of Sophia Glenice De Babao, Ana Monica Soldivilla, and Liam Jan Daniel — earned a trophy for 5th place in Team Challenge and placed 8th overall, with Soldivilla additionally recognized as 6th Place Champion Scholar. Team 786, comprising Juan Miguel Tagala, Don Rich Pagatpatan, and Athaliah Fajardo, placed 18th Overall Champion Team, with Tagala earning gold as the 21st Champion Scholar.

The school deployed 86 scholars across both Junior and Senior divisions — 48 Juniors organized into 16 teams, and 38 Seniors — all of whom secured berths to the WSC Global Round, where they will represent TPGS on the international stage.
The World Scholar’s Cup is a global academic program that tests students in areas including critical thinking, writing, debate, and interdisciplinary knowledge. Regional rounds serve as qualifying events for Global Rounds, which feed into the Tournament of Champions.
