Filipino professionals in Bahrain form alumni group after leadership program milestone

Manama, Bahrain – The Ateneo School of Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship (ALSE) Alumni Association celebrated a major milestone with the successful staging of its first alumni gathering and officers’ election at Crowne Plaza Bahrain on 15th May 2026 bringing together alumni members for an evening of fellowship, unity, and leadership.

The event brought together representatives from Batches 133 and 145, reflecting the growing strength, unity, and active engagement of the ALSE alumni community in the Kingdom. With a current alumni base of 80 members, the gathering marked a significant milestone toward establishing a more organized and cohesive platform for collaboration, professional development, meaningful engagement, and mutual support among graduates.

As the evening unfolded, the spirit of camaraderie was on full display. It was a night dedicated to strengthening bonds and building deeper connections, where the atmosphere of shared camaraderie laid the groundwork for future collaboration and a unified call to action.

The strength of Bahrain’s ALSE program is underpinned by the strategic direction provided by Senior Advisers Renne Subido and Puralyn Fiel-Subido. They advocate for the program as a crucial milestone for overseas workers, stating: “ALSE OF-LIFE is a transformative experience, one that empowers our fellow Filipinos to lead with a servant’s heart and innovate as entrepreneurs with a mission.”

By combining this vision with the diligent administrative expertise of Thess Corral and the Bahrain ALSE OF-LIFE Secretariat, the team successfully translated high-level ideas into a cohesive and impactful event. This inaugural occasion acts as the foundation for a movement, paving the way for future initiatives that will stimulate growth and social impact throughout the region.

The following officers were elected: President, Albert Ballesteros; Vice President for External Affairs, Abby Pelagio, Vice President for Internal Affairs, Reagan Amistoso; Secretary, Maria Quitoriano and Treasurer, Raymund Leano.

Newly elected President Albert Ballesteros and his team hit the ground thanking their fellow alumni for the vote of confidence. With a clear vision for the term ahead, Ballesteros pledged to translate that trust into action, focusing on initiatives that bridge professional gaps, build stronger alumni bonds, and encourage every member to play an active role in the Bahrain community

Under his leadership, Ballesteros, a senior bank manager plans to introduce several programs aimed at strengthening camaraderie, professional development, and community involvement among alumni members.

Among the priority projects are outreach programs and community volunteer activities that will encourage alumni to give back to society through charitable missions, environmental campaigns, and social responsibility efforts.

“Having spent 17 years in Bahrain, I have seen how strong communities are built through connection, service, and shared growth.”

He also emphasized the importance of health and wellness through sports activities, wellness programs, and a family day celebration designed to foster stronger relationships among alumni and their loved ones.

Recognizing the growing interest in entrepreneurship, Ballesteros shared plans to launch mentorship programs for members who aspire to start their own businesses. Part of the community engagement initiative includes instituting quarterly reunions to ensure that the spirit and values of the ALSE program remain vibrant, while fostering a continuing platform for collaboration, fellowship, and meaningful engagement among alumni.

“ALSE Alumni should be more than just an association,” Ballesteros remarked, emphasizing that the group is intended to be a catalyst for collective growth and lasting social impact.

By combining the professional depth of its members with a formal structure of mentorship and skill-building, the association is positioning itself as a cornerstone of the Filipino professional community. As the recent event proved, the group is united by more than just a certificate, it is driven by a shared commitment to excellence and a promise to lift one another up as they continue their professional journeys.

The Ateneo Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship (ALSE OF-LIFE) program is an initiative of the Ateneo School of Government dedicated to the holistic development of Overseas Filipinos. Since its inception in 2008, the program has empowered migrant workers through a comprehensive framework of leadership formation, financial education, and social entrepreneurship. This flagship program serves as a bridge for Overseas Filipino Workers, transforming the migrant experience into a foundation for long-term success.

The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and ALSE OF-LIFE formally signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in February 2025 in support of the reintegration initiatives of the MWO for Overseas Filipino Workers and their families. The partnership aims to strengthen programs focused on leadership development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment, helping OFWs prepare for sustainable opportunities and successful reintegration into society.
