Filipino-Emirati boxer to compete at Rising Stars Arabia in Abu Dhabi

Filipino-Emirati boxer Fahad Al Bloushi is set to fight Colombian Andres Garcia at the upcoming “Rising Stars Arabia” event in Abu Dhabi. The event, which is part of a series designed to showcase Arab boxing talent on a global stage, will take place on Saturday, March 2, at the Yas Links Golf Course.

Al Bloushi, known as “Kid Emirati,” has become one of the UAE’s most promising boxing talents. Since taking up the sport seriously in 2015, he has represented the UAE at the Asian Games in 2018 and has built a professional record of 13-1 with 3 knockouts. Al Bloushi, whose heritage includes Filipino roots from his mother’s side, has embraced this aspect of his identity as he climbs the ranks in the boxing world.

The third installment of the “Rising Stars Arabia” series promises to be a thrilling event, with live broadcasts on DAZN, ESPN Knockout, and Abu Dhabi Sports TV starting at 8 p.m. UAEST. The series has gained popularity for bringing attention to fighters from the MENA region, a talent pool often overlooked by Western promoters.

The event’s main feature is a 10-round bout between Moroccan super featherweight Jaouad Belmehdi and Ghanaian star Alfred Lamptey. Additionally, other promising boxers from the region, including Sultan Al Nuaimi and Amer Kadhum Ghaneem, will be participating in key fights, highlighting the depth of talent in Arab boxing.

Al Bloushi’s fight against Garcia, a seasoned Venezuelan lightweight with a record of 14-7-1, will be one of the co-featured events of the evening. At 27 years old and weighing 136 pounds, Al Bloushi’s height and reach advantage might play a crucial role in this eight-round contest.
