Filipino actor and singer Vince Conrad won the Acting Category division championship at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts, taking home multiple medals and a scholarship from the New York Film Academy.
Conrad earned three gold medals—in the overall Acting Category, Comical Acting, and Dramatic Acting—advancing to the competition’s Grand Finals. He also collected a silver medal as a semifinalist in Comical Acting and a bronze in Vocal World.
Annie Mercado, creative director of WCOPA Philippines, said a Filipino delegate rarely reaches that level in the event’s acting categories. “In the history of WCOPA, the Philippines had never made its mark in acting. Since the Philippines joined in 2005, diction, accent, and intonation had always been the challenges for Pinoys. Getting a gold in acting at WCOPA is very rare, considering that it is based on Hollywood standards. More so, getting into the Grand Finals! This is why we are mighty proud of his achievement. He made history here,” Mercado said.
The scholarship from the New York Film Academy gives Conrad an opening to develop his craft abroad.
Conrad made his professional theater debut in 2014 and has worked with National Artist for Music Fides Cuyugan-Asensio, filmmaker Joel Lamangan, and actress-director Laurice Guillen. His stage credits include Song of Joseph, Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, Kristo: Isang Musikal, and JEPROKS the Musical. He was part of the cast of I Will the Musical, named Best Ensemble in a Musical Play at the 35th Aliw Awards, and received the Dangal ng Batangan Artist Award for Theater in 2020. He has also appeared in a period film directed by Rommel Ramilo.
