A 23-year-old Filipino American man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbings of three family members in Baldwin Park, California, authorities announced Friday.
According to an Cebu Daily News report, the victims, identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, were 8-year-old Mia Chantelle Narvaez, 16-year-old Paul Sebastian Manangan, and 44-year-old Rona Nate. Neighbors stated that the family members were originally from the Philippines.
The tragedy occurred Thursday evening on the 4700 block of Bogart Avenue, according to the Baldwin Park Police Department. Officers arrived at the scene at 6:48 p.m. and discovered the victims, all of whom had suffered multiple stab wounds.
Eyewitness accounts painted a harrowing picture of the incident. Nathan Garcia, a neighbor, described hearing the youngest victim screaming for help, saying, “Someone call 911. My brother stabbed my mom in the back, I saw blood.”
Another neighbor reported hearing loud noises and a crash coming from the house around 6:30 p.m., adding that someone had screamed at the top of their lungs before the commotion ended.
