In the face of unprecedented rain on Tuesday, Dubai Metro services experienced severe disruptions, nearly grinding operations to a halt and leaving approximately 200 commuters stranded across various stations.
Commuters planning to use the Metro today are urged to plan their journeys meticulously as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced scheduled maintenance along the Red and Green lines on Wednesday, April 17. This maintenance is expected to impact station operations and Metro timings.
To assist affected passengers, free shuttle bus services will be deployed at impacted stations to facilitate their journeys.
For commuters relying on the Dubai Metro today, here’s a breakdown of operational stations:
Red Line:
- Centrepoint to GGICO
- BurJuman to World Trade Centre
- Jabal Ali to Expo 2020
Green Line:
- Etisalat station to Abu Hail
- Creek station to Al Ras
Passengers traveling to stations affected by maintenance will be provided with complimentary shuttle services.
Following the suspension of Dubai Metro operations towards Centrepoint, approximately 200 commuters found themselves stranded at Jebel Ali Metro Station without access to amenities for hours.
In response to the service disruptions amidst heavy rainfall, commuters expressed frustration, citing a lack of clarity regarding when Metro services would resume. With convenience stores closed and facilities inaccessible, passengers endured discomfort as they awaited updates on the situation.
