Emirates airline has prolonged the suspension of check-in for departing passengers from Dubai until 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, citing operational challenges linked to the Dubai International (DXB) airport. This decision comes as Dubai Airports continues to grapple with logistical issues following record rainfall on Tuesday.
An Emirates spokesperson acknowledged the difficulties faced by passengers, stating in a Khaleej Times report, “Emirates is extending the suspension of check-in for passengers departing Dubai… due to continued operational challenges caused by bad weather and road conditions.” The airline urged passengers to arrive at the airport only if they possess a confirmed flight booking and after 9 a.m. on April 18.
Passengers currently in transit at Dubai are assured that they will be processed for their flights, although delays are to be expected for both departures and arrivals. Emirates advised affected customers to stay updated on flight schedules through the airline’s website and to contact their booking agent or Emirates contact center for rebooking in case of cancellations.
Expressing apologies to impacted customers, the spokesperson emphasized ongoing efforts to mitigate disruptions, stating, “Our teams are working hard to restore our scheduled operations, as well as secure accommodation and other amenities for affected customers at the airport.”
